On Tuesday 17th  December, at the Christmas Wonderland in Oinousses, the traditional festive party organised by TEO took place. As in previous years, Christmas gifts were purchased locally from the two gift shops and were given to all the children on the island. Father Christmas made an appearance and gave each child their gift. Festive music was playing in the background. The Periptero (kiosk) offered food and drinks for all sponsored by TEO along with savoury food from the bakery. …

The Oinoussai Benevolent Fund is getting ready to host this year’s Christmas event in Aignoussa. OBF will be inviting all the children up to the age of 12 to the Winter Wonderland Village which is being set up on the island and have arranged for Santa Claus to deliver the traditional Christmas gifts to all the children.…

Members of the Executive and Fundraising Committees distributed the St Nicholas Artos around London offices and homes in a long standing tradition to honour the church of St Nicholas on December 6th. All contributions go to the up keep of the church in Oinousses. This is a tradition that has been ever present in the London-Greek community for several decades and one that all members have enjoyed. The Artos are blessed by the priest on the day of distribution.

On Saturday 23 November 2024, the Oinoussian Ball welcomed its guests at a new venue, the Saint George Ballroom at The Peninsula, Belgravia. 450 guests arrived at 7 pm and proceeded to enjoy a most memorable evening in this spectacular new environment.

The tables were adorned with delightful seasonal bouquets, a going away gift of olive oil and honey from the monastery of Ormylia and Christmas crackers to herald the beginning of the Festive Season.

On Thursday 5th September 2024, our President and Vice-president co-ordinated an impromptu visit to the island of Victoria Hislop, journalist, celebrated author, philhellene and honorary Greek,  who had wanted to visit our shores after having watched our OBF short documentary on Oinousses a few months ago.

This year’s AGM was held at the Hellenic Centre, London, W1 on Thursday 18 April 2024 at 7pm. The president gave his annual address which included a review of the fund’s activities and spoke in great detail about the achievements of OBF during the last twelve months. The president ended his speech by describing the exciting projects taking place on the island and some events to be hosted by OBF that we can look forward to this year.…

On Saturday 4^th November the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Ballroom opened its doors to extend a warm welcome to the many guests arriving for the Oinoussai Benevolent Fund’s annual Oinoussian Ball.

Around four hundred loyal supporters and many first-time guests, from London, Switzerland and Greece, gathered in the foyer, greeting each other with enthusiasm and were looking forward to a memorable evening in the opulent setting of this historic hotel.

On the 1st – 3rd of September the island welcomed once more Isalos.Net and Helmepa who organised a three day summer camp event partially sponsored by OBF. Our president was in attendance during those days and gave a key note speech to the students. He also participated in a round table discussion with the other dignitaries assembled there on the subject of shipping, the islands and viable growth. On 18th August 2023 the Oinoussai Benevolent Fund was presented with a plaque in recognition of the 80 years of patriotic contributions and activity for the island. The mayor, Mr George St. Daniil presented the plaque to the president of TEO, John M. Hadjipateras at an event organised by the Municipal Office to report their activities of the previous years and their vision for the forthcoming years. The wording on the plaque translates as Honoris Causa and Gratitude.…

On 25th August 2023, the Aegean Regatta 2023 culminated in Oinousses. Following the award of the prizes, there was an evening of musical and theatrical celebrations. The president of TEO was called upon to give a trophy to one of the winning crews.…

On Friday 18th August, under the starry night sky of Oinousses, the first annual Bilali Beach Party took place.

This fundraising event was supported by the Oinoussai Benevolent Fund, who will match the funds raised.
The support and donations will go directly towards art and music projects on the island, such as the purchase of musical instruments and arrangement of art classes for young and old.

A letter issued by Minister of the Interior regarding the new law recently passed in Parliament enabling registered Greeks of the Diaspora to vote in their country of residence.

Note that this applies to national elections, and not to local elections.…

On 17th June 2023, at Glaros restaurant, the Association of Parents and Guardians of Oinousses Primary School ‘Apostolos Pavlos’ gave an award to OBF for its valuable cooperation and contribution in 2023. This award was graciously accepted by Marianna Iliopoulou on behalf of OBF.  Our President sent a message that was read at the celebration.

On Saturday 19th November 2022. OBF Charity celebrated its landmark 80th Anniversary at The Royal Lancaster, London. We were fortunate to welcome pre covid numbers (350 people) of attendance and a third of those were enthusiastic under 30 year olds who enhanced the room with their youthful spirit. The Hellenic Centre in Marylebone, London NW1, from 7pm to 8.30 pm, the Oinoussai Benevolent Fund in conjunction with Isalos.net and Naftika Chronika, organised a presentation and panel discussion on Oinoussian Shipping: Tradition, Benevolence, Solidarity and Innovation.
